TRF: The National Vision
Purpose and Definitions
Their Reading Futures (TRF) provides training to help libraries deliver the best reader development services for children and young people.
TRF aims to:
- Refresh and revitalise children's reader development in public libraries
- Skill all frontline library staff in supporting young readers
- Support managers in planning and advocating their reading services for children and young people.
TRF training, both face-to-face and through this website, is a key part of the workforce development activity in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport/Resource Framework for the Future action plan (launches new website) for libraries.
This section of the TRF website looks at definitions of reader development. By using this section you will:
- Know what reader development is, in the context of Their Reading Futures linked to national thinking and definitions
- Consider why reading matters
- Think through the special ways in which libraries bring reading to people.
